Act 1:
Cracked-throat I rise
And breathe in the morning smoke. I live in
a  repetition of sorts.
There is some comfort in mindless routine
Lather, rinse, repeat
Act 2:
Your husband hums nirvana as he blackens
Spreadsheets. He is a happy man.
His laugh lines attest to that as he smiles
and consumes the lunch you made.
I have none.
Act 3:
You burn like a fever around me , your breath
scalding my neck. I cradle my burns.
"One day I'll steal you away..."
I leave with scorched lips.
Act 4:
Stolen kisses in the afternoon
turn to ash at night.
Act 5:
Monotony thy name is life.
I gaze at celestial cinders till I fall.

I'll awake soon dreaming of thirst.
